New hobby unlocked: Gunpla
I just bought my first Gunpla kit – an RG 1/144 RX-93-v2 Hi-Nu!
While I don’t care much for the actual Gundam series, I’ve always been a fan of large mecha models. So I’m not sure how I didn’t think of this earlier.
I’ve heard this a good starting kit for a beginner, and I like the look of the model. Which I can’t really say about the more classic Gundams (like RX-78-2, which is the most familiar design I believe?). I just want something with huge legs, wings, and preferably a saber or something. I had to give up the latter in this kit, but still – 2 out of 3 isn’t bad.
What I like the most about Gunpla is that you don’t have to use glue or paint, it often looks great anyway.
Alas, no more Heroes of the Storm
Another thing that’s happened: I’ve stopped playing Heroes of the Storm, after like 6000 games or so. I only mention it since I went through my old posts and see so much covering it. Damn, I loved that game.
So this one really hurts. I started playing with some guys, who were up to no good, started making trouble in my neighbo… eh… I started playing with some awesome dudes from across the country. I’ve seriously never had so much fun – played late at evenings, laughing my fricking arse off. I was even planning on meeting them, maybe hanging out during summer vacation.
Then… Blizzard decided to just cancel the game, basically. Kicking out all the pro players with a few days notice, terminating the pro league, and announcing that the game will be in permanent maintenance mode. So my team mates started playing League of Legends instead, which I don’t like and am not remotely as good at. So that was it. After 6 months or so they felt like playing again, and we played one or two games, after which they went back to League. The same thing happened a year later – but that time I turned them down. I just told them that this was like a break out – this poor heart couldn’t take getting inebriated on the game again and then left alone again.
I’m trying not to be bitter about it, but it just sucks not having that many close friends.
2025 and some news
Why hello there! Long time see for sure. The last time I was active on this site was almost ten years ago. Time sure flies. I’ve decided to be active here again. There won’t be daily posts, but not ten years between them either.
So… what’s new?
- The site has a new design, remade from the ground up.
- I’ve switched jobs twice. I love it where I am now!
- I’ve moved to a new and bigger apartment.
- There’s been a pandemic in the world – I’ve had covid twice, hoping that’ll be all.
- Also, I have a new cat:
Sidebar or no sidebar – that is the question
I’ve been thinking about the design of this site, and I’m still not sure whether to have a sidebar or not.
I like the clean design as it is now, with one centered column with posts. Simple and straightforward. But with a sidebar I could have a lot more space for recommended posts and such.
What do you think?
Getting a new Gaming chair
Friends! I’ve finally decided to abandon my old IKEA chair, anno circa 1998. It may look OK on the picture, but looking closely… not so much. Scuffed on the headrest, wheels which no longer roll, and just soiled general, after years of – eh, nevermind. Anyway, I want a new one.
I think I’m gonna go for a Maxnomic Pro-Chief TBE (Total Black Edition, not Tick-Borne Encephalitis). What do you think?
Proof that I was always a geek
My mom scanned and sent me an old drawing of mine. So… yeah. I’ve always been, and always will be, a geek!
